Graveside funeral services celebrating the life of Helen Marie Burkert, 76, of Newark, will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, 9:00 A.M., Saturday, March 5, 2022, with Fr. David Sizemore as celebrant.

Helen died at Arlington Care Center on Thursday, February 17, 2022.  She was born in Newark, Ohio on September 25, 1945, to the late Byron and Marilee (O'Donnell) Elder.

Helen was a member of the Catholic faith and attended Newark Catholic High School.  She retired after many years of working as an over the road truck driver.  She enjoyed NASCAR, horses, and completing jigsaw puzzles- many of which she had framed.

She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Charles; and sisters, Marilyn Garren and Lynne (Dale) Gleckler; nephews, Justin Phillips and David Garren; and 2 great-nieces.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her longtime companion, James Jones.
