A Mass of Christian Burial for Howard Kenneth Guy, 92, of Heath, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., Monday, May 20, 2024, with Fr. Mike Gentry as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
Ken, a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, died at the Selma Markowitz Care Center of Hospice of Central Ohio, surrounded by the love of his family, on Saturday, May 11, 2024. He was born in Newark, Ohio on May 28, 1931, to the late Oliver and Pauline (Harris) Guy.
A Class of 1948 graduate of Newark High School, Ken served with the United States Army 82nd Airborne during the Korean War. He was employed at the US Postal Service where he was a mail sorter for the Newark branch and then became the first window clerk at the Heath branch, where he retired from after 36 years of service. Following retirement, Ken and Regina enjoyed 15 years as "Snow Birds" in Lady Lake Florida.
Ken never went a day without reading the newspaper and completing the crossword puzzle. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed rooting for his children and grandchildren during their athletic adventures.
Ken was a family man at heart, fully devoted to each of them. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 67 years, Regina (Davis) Guy; children, Gerald "Jerry" (Jillian) Guy, Kathy Guy Ruff, Larry (Debbie) Guy, and Sean Guy, 3 grandchildren, Kelsey Ruff, Konnor Ruff and Joshua Guy; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may call at the Reed-Egan Funeral Home, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 2-4 P.M., Sunday, May 19, 2024, with a Vigil Service held at 3:30 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 40 Granville St., Newark, OH 43055; or Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Road, Newark, OH 43055.
