Obituary

A Mass of Christian Burial for Guilio Martin "Marty" Ghiloni, 57, of Thornville, will be held at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, September 7, 2022, with Fr. Mark Ghiloni as celebrant and Fr. Anthony Lonzo as concelebrant. Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Marty, a parishioner of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, died at Mt. Carmel East Hospital on Sunday, August 28, 2022.  He was born in Newark, Ohio on December 2, 1964, the son of Robert W. and Barbara (Trickey) Ghiloni of Newark, Ohio.

Marty was a graduate of Blessed Sacrament Elementary and Newark Catholic High School.  He was owner and operator of Ghiloni Home Improvements, restoring and renovating homes.

Marty was a sport enthusiast and enjoyed rooting for any Ohio team, especially The Buckeyes.  Over the years he coached many of his children's athletic teams and greatly loved being involved with all of their sporting events.  Marty was an outdoorsman, and spent many days hunting, camping, and boating.  He also held many fond memories of his travels throughout Italy, exploring his Italian heritage and sharing many laughs with his family.

In addition to his parents, Marty is survived by his five children, Robert W. Ghiloni and Guilio Michael (Sara) Ghiloni and their mother, Judy Ghiloni-Hickman, Grant, Andrea, and Emma Ghiloni and their mother, Becky Getreu; brother, Bryan (Renee) Ghiloni; sister, Rebecca "Becki" Reasoner; grandchildren, Robert W. Ghiloni and Mack X. Ghiloni; uncle, Arthur Ghiloni; aunts, Sr. Assunta Ghiloni, OSF, Donna Grigsby, and Pamela Trumbull; fiancé, Oksana Lastovskaya; extended family, Dilan Ekmark (fiancé Ashley Gabel); many cousins, friends, and his devoted canine companion, Buck.

Marty was preceded in death by his son, Austin Ghiloni; grandson, Adam; and brother-in-law, Hugh Reasoner.

Friends and family may call at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 4-7 P.M., Tuesday, September 6, 2022, where a Vigil Service will be held at 6:30 P.M.
