Graveside funeral services celebrating the life of Ginger D. Downs, 78, of Newark, will be held in the mausoleum chapel of Newark Memorial Gardens, 1 P.M., Thursday, March 11, 2021, with Chaplain Jeff Smith as celebrant.

Ginger died at her home on Friday, March 5, 2021.  She was born in Newark, Ohio on September 13, 1942, to the late Clyde W. and Florence (Huntsman) Harper.

She attended Newark High School and retired from the Diebold Company where she worked for 30 years.  Following retirement, Ginger worked as a sales associate with the Kohl's Store of Newark.  She enjoyed country line dancing and attending rodeos and monster trucks rallies.  Ginger also enjoyed crafting and creating quilts.

She will be greatly missed by her son, Christopher (Angela) Harper; grandchildren, Jarad (Hannah) Harper and Jaricca (Mike) Butcher; great-granddaughter, Amaya Butcher; brother, Jim Harper and William "Bill" Harper; half-siblings, Brenda, Susie, and Wilbur "Bill"; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Ginger was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Downs; brother, Clyde E. Harper; sister-in-law, Diana Harper; and half-brother, Bob.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ginger's name can be made to the Licking County Humane Society, 825 Thornwood Drive, Heath, Ohio 43056.
