A Mass of Christian Burial for George Joseph Minton Sr., 80, of Newark, will be held at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 14, 2023, with Fr. Anthony Lonzo as celebrant. Interment will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens.
George, a parishioner of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, died at his home on Sunday, July 9, 2023. He was born in Newark, Ohio on May 15, 1943, to the late Higy and Anna Virginia (Peck) Minton.
George was retired from Owens Corning where he worked in shipping. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, and liked to go bowling and golf. In addition, George enjoyed traveling and the many family vacations.
He will be greatly missed by his children, George (Cathy) Minton Jr., Georganna (Bill) Phelps, Dusty Minton, and Eric (Johnnie) Minton; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; his sisters-in-law, Joyce Cost, Carol Cordle, and Pam (Walt) Weisgerber; brother-in-law, Mike (Kathy) Cordle; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife of 56 ½ years, Connie (Cordle) Minton; daughter-in-law, Milly Minton; brother, Gerald (Jackie) Minton; sister-in-law, Barb (Benny) Hufford; and brothers-in-law, John O. Cordle Jr., Steve Cost and Earl Marshall.
Friends and family may call at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 6-8 P.M., Thursday, July 13, 2023, where a Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 P.M.
