A Mass of Christian Burial for George M. George, 86, of Newark will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 11 A.M. Monday, October 30, 2017, with Msgr. David Funk officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
George M. George, passed away peacefully at Wesley Ridge in Reynoldsburg on October 26, 2017. Born in Newark on March 14, 1931, to Mike and Eva (Vaia) George. A member of National Honor Society and 1949 graduate of Newark High School, George had perfect attendance all twelve years.
Proudly served in the Air Force as an airframe repairman during the Korean War. Retired from Rockwell International after working 40 years in the Cutter Grind department. Member of United Auto Workers and longtime parishioner at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by wife of 44 years, Eleanor (Cantlebary) George; brother, John George; brothers-in-law, Ralph Pound, Dallas Huddle, William Cantlebary, James Cantlebary, and Lionel Boucher; sister-in-law, Carolyn Cantlebary.
Survived by son and daughter-in-law Peter and Karen George of Reynoldsburg; daughter Susan George of Haines City, Florida; four grandchildren: Jared, Olivia, Hunter, and Bayley; sisters Katherine Pound of Newark and Donna Huddle of Pataskala; sisters-in-law Emma Boucher, Marty Cantlebary, Mary (David) Varrasso, and Marie George all of Newark; many nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews.
A special thank you to the Methodist Outer Care Hospice, the Wesley Ridge staff, and the St. Pius X community for your kindness and prayers as George battled Alzheimer's disease.
Friends and family may call from 2-5 P.M., Sunday, October 29, 2017 at the Reed-Egan Funeral Home, 141 Green Wave Drive, where a Vigil Service will be held at 4:30 P.M.
The family requests that memorials be made to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Newark or St. Pius X Catholic Church in Reynoldsburg.
