George H. Fackler, Jr.'s Obituary
A Funeral Mass for George H. Fackler, Jr., 88, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., Monday, January 25, 2016, with Rev. JCP Sullivan, Parish Priest, as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
George, a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, died after a brief illness at the Selma Markowitz Care Center of Hospice of Central Ohio on Thursday, January 21, 2016 with his family by his side. He was born in Mansfield, Ohio on December 4, 1927 to the late George H. Fackler Sr. and Edna (Zimmerman) Percy.
George served as a medic with the United States Army just following WWII. He retired from White Westinghouse in 1985 and served as Vice President Emeritus of Fackler Country Gardens since 1978.
He was an avid supporter and fan of all high school sports, especially Newark Catholic. In his later years, George kept a busy social schedule, making countless friends and acquaintances.
Known affectionately as PoPo or Pops by those closest to him, George was a true family man dedicated to his children and their families. He will be greatly missed by his children, Denise (Jeffrey) Campbell, George III (Kim) Fackler, and Timothy (Stephanie) Fackler; his grandchildren, George IV "Chip" (Nicole), Chris, Dustin, Madelyn, Mike (Cassie), Andrew, Amy (Jeff), Hilary, Lindsey, Carl (Peggy), Craig (Kim), Curt (Megan), Corey, and Christian, 16 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Ed (Marie) Percy, Boyd (Renate) Fackler, and Nancy (John) Nelson; beloved sister-in-law, Liz Marshall; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn M. (Danese) Fackler.
Friends and family may call at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 2-6 P.M., Sunday, January 24, 2016 where a Vigil Service will be held at 5:30 P.M.
