Obituary

A Mass of Christian Burial for Frances E. DiBlasio, 94, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, January 22, 2019 with Fr. Bob Penhallurick as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Francie died at the Selma Markowitz Care Center of Hospice of Central Ohio on Wednesday, January 16, 2019. She was born in Newark on September 29, 1924 to the late Michele C. and Angela M. (Favo) DiBlasio..

Francie was a devout Catholic and a lifelong parishioner of St Francis de Sales Catholic Church. She belonged to the Order of Sons of Italy in America, Rinascimento Lodge 2486 and was proud to have been a charter member. She also greatly enjoyed the Life Again Club and gathering monthly with the Breakfast Club.

Francie was content to live a simple life in the house in which she was born and raised. She was at her happiest when surrounded by friends and family. In earlier years, Francie delighted in cooking and baking, and playing bingo. Some of her later pastimes included watching game shows, playing lottery instant scratch-offs, and feeding the birds.

She loved children and will be fondly remembered as a dependable and nurturing babysitter for numerous friends and family; a lasting legacy she leaves behind.

She is survived by her sisters, Theresa DiBlasio and Mary Jane O'Neal; her brother Carl DiBlasio; many beloved nieces and nephews; and the many devoted friends and neighbors who have offered transportation and companionship over the years.

In addition to her parents, Francie was preceded in death by her sister, Sarah DiBlasio; brothers (sisters-in-law), Christian, Albert (Louella), Nicholas and Mike (Louise) DiBlasio; brother-in-law, Paul O'Neal; sister-in-law, Millie DiBlasio; and niece Marie DiBlasio.

Friends and family may call from 4-7 P.M. on Monday, January 21, 2019 at the Reed-Egan Funeral Home, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, with a Sons of Italy service at 6:30 and Vigil Service with the Rosary at 6:45 P.M.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses of Hospice of Central Ohio for the compassion and care that they bestowed upon their Aunt Francie these past few weeks.
