Funeral services celebrating the life of Ferdinand "Finny" Rajchel, 83, of Newark, will be held at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 1 P.M., Thursday, August 11, 2016 with Fr. William Hristko as celebrant. Friends and family may call at the funeral home for one hour prior to the funeral service.
Finny died at the Selma Markowitz Care Center of Hospice of Central Ohio on Tuesday, August 9, 2016. He was born in Utica, New York on December 12, 1932 to the late Stanley and Stephanie (Wiater) Rajchel.
A United States Army Veteran, Finny was retired from the Newark Air Force Base where he worked for many years. He was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus 721, and 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Bishop Michael J. Ready Council. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 85.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Alvena (Bates) Rajchel of the home; his son, Ferdinand Rajchel Jr.; his daughter, Teresa Rajchel; grandchildren, Nathan and Shannon; brothers, John and Thaddeus Rajchel; sisters, Celia Waters and Veronica Rajchel; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Finny was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard and Joe; and his infant sister, Teresa.
