Obituary

Funeral arrangements for Eugene "Gene" M. Haynes, 92, of Hebron, will be held at Reed-Egan Funeral Home, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 11 A.M., Monday, July 1, 2024, with his son-in-law, Rev. Daniel Bogre as celebrant. Calling will be held at the funeral home from 1-3 P.M., Sunday, June 30, 2024, and for one-hour prior to the service on Monday. Burial will be held in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

Gene, a United States Air Force Veteran, died at his home on Tuesday, June 25, 2024. He was born in Newark, Ohio on May 18, 1932, to the late Edwin James and Mable Louise (Perry) Haynes.

A 1950 graduate of Newark High School, Gene worked as a glass technologist with Owens Corning, retiring in 1994. During his career with Owens, Gene traveled extensively making a total of 352 trips overseas.

Gene enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and was happy to be mowing his own lawn at his age of 92. As a connoisseur of fine wine, nothing brought him more peace than sitting on his lakeside patio sharing a bottle with family and friends and watching the squirrels.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 57 years, Ann (Geyer) Haynes; daughters, Cynthia Lallathin, Patricia Farnsworth (Wayne Jr.), Ann Haynes, Jeanne Bogre (Daniel) and Julie Lindner (Timothy); 11 grandchildren, Katie, Chris, Craig, Wayne, Brad, Nick, Erika, Anna, John, Benjamin, Alexander; 17 great-grandchildren, Ali, Hannah, Brinley, Jack, David, Kal, Connor, Landon, Abigail, Patrick, Faith, Hartley, Xander, Ziva, Bristol, Brady, and Brice; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his son, Eugene Geyer Haynes; grandson, David Eugene Lallathin, great-grandson, Ethan Matthew Farnsworth; and son-in-law, William Allen Eiginger.
