Obituary

Funeral services celebrating the life of Eugene Peter "Pete" Dragonette Jr., 77, of Newark, will be held at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 10:30 A.M., Thursday, May 18, 2017 with Bill Quinlan as celebrant and with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

Pete, a United States Army Veteran (Captain), died at his home on Saturday, May 13, 2017. He was born in Troy, Ohio on August 12, 1939 to the late Eugene P. Sr. and Susan (Ross) Dragonette.

Pete was retired from Columbus Public City Schools where he worked as a high school teacher for 30 years. He was an avid reader and enjoyed watching movies, especially comedies which also led to his great sense of humor. Pete also embodied a spiritual side that enabled him to make many great friends and relationships over the years.


He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Eugene Peter III and Karin Dragonette; grandchildren, Jayson and Aleyna Dragonette and Madison Bosworth (Scott Stromquist); his former wife and mother of his children, Lloyd S. Dragonette; his second wife, Linda Dragonette; his sisters, Sarah Bicknell and Marcia Alcorn; and nieces and nephews.


In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his daughter, Shawn Marie Bosworth; and his maternal grandmother whom he was extremely close to and dearly loved, Bernice "Meemo" (John) Ross.

The family wishes to give a special thanks to his caregiver and friend, Christina Luitel.

Friends and family may call from 5-7 P.M., Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at the funeral home.

The family respectfully requests that memorials in Pete's name be made to the Licking County Humane Society, 825 Thornwood Drive, Heath, Ohio 43056.
