Calling hours and military honors celebrating the life of Ernest "Ernie" James Bryson, 89, of Newark, will be held at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark; 4-7 P.M, Tuesday, December 19, 2023, with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance at 6:30 P.M.

Ernie died at The Inn at Chapel Grove on Thursday, December 14, 2023. He was born in Glouster, Ohio on March 26, 1934, to the late Ernest and Margaret (Bulloch) Bryson.

A United States Army Veteran, Ernie retired from DCSC after many years. He was truly a kind and thoughtful man who enjoyed traveling, fixing things around the house, and spending time with friends, especially the love of his life, Mary Jane.

He will be greatly missed by his wife and beloved companion of 47 years, Mary Jane Golata; daughters, Elizabeth Patton and Christine Justice; siblings Margie and Bill, sisters-in-law, Patricia (John) Doherty, Marcia Golata (Bill Grant), Debra Golata (Jon Harris) and Tess (Doug) Boone; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Ernie was preceded in death by 4 siblings.
