A Mass of Christian Burial for Erica Renae Hoffman, 51, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 1 P.M., Friday, November 6, 2026, with Fr. Tom Gardner as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Newark.

Erica died at Mount Carmel East Hospital on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. She was born in Newark, Ohio on February 3, 1975 to the late Eric “Rick” and Patricia (Donovan) Leek.

A 1993 graduate of Newark High School, Erica worked for several years at Park National and National City Banks, before finding her true calling as a daycare provider at Pride-N-Joy Preschool.

Erica loved her family and was proud to share a birthday with her daughter, Kristine. Her pastimes included baking, doing word searches, and watching Hallmark movies. She devoted many hours to supporting her children in their endeavors in ice hockey, and dance, and enjoyed the travels associated with both. Erica also loved the outdoors, including boating and beach vacations. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she enjoyed the light display at Oglebay and the Columbus Zoo Wildlights.

Erica will be dearly missed by her loving husband, Brian; children, Kristine and Aaron; brother, Brian Leek; sister-in-law, Mary Metzen (Tim Balo); uncle, Michael Donovan; niece, Amber (Josh) Toothman; and great-nephews, Jaxon and Owen Toothman.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents with whom she was very close, Frank and Susan Donovan; and sister-in-law, Joyce Meckling.

Friends and family may call at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, Thursday, November 5, 2026, 4-6 P.M., with a Vigil Service held at 5:30 P.M.
