Obituary

A Mass of Christian Burial for Emily Marlene Hamilton, 88, of Newark, will be held at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 11:00 A.M., Thursday, June 30, 2022, with Fr. Mark Ghiloni as celebrant. Inurnment will be held at Resurrection Cemetery at a later date.

Emily died at her home surrounded by the love of her family on Friday, June 24, 2022.  She was born in Columbus, Ohio on January 30, 1934, to the late David R. and Muriel M. (Buchanan) Hamilton II.

A 1952 graduate of Columbus South High School, Emily was a parishioner of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament and former parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and St. Christopher Catholic Churches.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Robert (Mary Beth) Hamilton, Debbie (Don) Dyson, Patty VonVille, Julianne Hamilton (Dennis Tucker), and Becky Hamilton (Jamie Wilden); 11 grandchildren, Robert, Mackenzie (Bryan), Taylor, Austin, Stephaini, Jenny, Ryan, Michael, Jamie Brianne (Corbin), Janice, and Matt (Marlene); 7 great-grandchildren, Ellis, Lennon, Hailey, Haizden, Camilla, Vincent, and Miles; brother-in-law, Bill (Bonnie) Hamilton; and many dear nieces and nephews.  Emily also leaves behind several close friends, Naomi, Patty, Irene, Anna Jean, and Ruth; and her "like daughters", Victoria, Jackey, and Annette.

In addition to her parents, Emily was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" A. Hamilton; siblings, Lillian, Marian, David, and Kate; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill (Sophie) Hamilton.

Friends and family may call at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 5-7:30 P.M., Wednesday, June 29, 2022, where a Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Emily's name can be made to the Blessed Sacrament School Fund, 394 E. Main Street, Newark, OH 43055; or Heartbeats of Licking County, 336 E. Main Street, Newark, OH 43055.

The family of Emily would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Hospice of Central Ohio, especially nurse Ashley and aide Patty, for their compassionate care these last several months.
