A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Elizabeth Kathryn Kaercher, 85, of Newark, will be held at The Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 10:30 A.M., Saturday, September 16, 2023, with Fr. Mark Ghiloni as celebrant, and with Fr. Anthony Lonzo and Deacon Robert Ghiloni as concelebrants. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Liz died at SharonBrooke Assisted Living on Monday, September 11, 2023. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on August 26, 1938, to the late Arthur C. and Frances C. (Griffith) Kaercher.
Liz attended Blessed Sacrament Elementary School and was a 1956 graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School. Following, Liz joined the Dominican Sisters of the Sick and Poor (1956-1968) and was a Dominican Associate of the Congregation of St. Mary of the Springs, Columbus. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from Our Lady of Edgecliff, Cincinnati, completing her dietetic internship at Cincinnati General Hospital in 1965.
She worked as a dietician with Riverside Hospitals for over 20 years, and retired from Licking Memorial Health Systems where she worked 10 years as dietician and was a certified diabetes educator in the Community Case Management Department. Liz had also taught in the nutrition program at the University of Wisconsin.
Devoted to her Catholic faith, Liz was a longtime parishioner of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament where she served as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, was part of the RCIA Team, and volunteered with St. Vincent de Paul.
She greatly loved her family, and will be missed by her sister, Elaine (Robert) Stevens; niece, Kathy Stevens; nephews, Nicholas Stevens and Doug (Kim) Stevens; great-nephews, James and Griffin Stevens; and many cousins and their families.
Friends and family may call from 4-6 P.M, Friday, September 15, 2023, at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, with a Vigil Service held at 5:30 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Liz's name can be made to either the Elementary School or Church of Blessed Sacrament, 394 East Main Street, Newark, OH 43055; or Generation Hospice, 26 N. Westmoor Ave., Newark, OH 43055.
