A Mass of Christian Burial for Elizabeth "Betty" J. Ridenbaugh, 88, of Newark, will be held at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, February 16, 2022, with Fr. Anthony Lonzo as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Betty, a 1951 graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School, died at Licking Memorial Hospital on Saturday, February 12, 2022. She was born in Newark, Ohio on May 23, 1933, to the late Roman J. and Agnes A. (Rauch) Glaub.
A devout Catholic, Betty was a longtime parishioner of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament where she was an active church and school volunteer over the years. She was retired from Newark City Schools and loved her time working with children. Betty served as a cafeteria worker at Maholm Elementary and was also a driver on school bus #6.
Betty was an avid gardener and could often be seen working in her gardens at her home on Cedar Run Road.
She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Karen P. Addy; her sons, Tim A. (Edna) Ridenbaugh, Mark D. (Dorothy) Ridenbaugh, Thomas A. Ridenbaugh, and John B. Ridenbaugh; grandchildren, Katie (Jeffrey) Froula, Kevin (Amber) Ridenbaugh, Adam (Monica) Ridenbaugh, Sara Ridenbaugh (fiancé, Tanner Taylor), Roman, Magdalene, JohnPaul, Augustine, and Michael Ridenbaugh, Amanda (Neil) Hoyng, Heidi (Eric) Findlay; great-grandchildren, Athanasius, Levi, and Felix Froula, Kaleb and Khloe Ridenbaugh, Adam Jr. and Aaron Ridenbaugh, and Guinevere Hoyng; sisters, Theresa Ehret and Rita Rector; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene A. Ridenbaugh; son, Michael E. Ridenbaugh; grandson, Joshua Addy; granddaughter, Agnes Ridenbaugh; great-grandson, DominicThomas Froula; daughter-in-law, Kathy Ridenbaugh; siblings, Mary Stevens, John "Jack" Glaub, Francis "Buck" Glaub, and Sister Madonna Glaub O.P., and her infant brother, Anthony Glaub.
At Betty's requests, please no flowers. Memorials in Betty's name can be made to the Blessed Sacrament School Tuition Reduction Fund, 394 East Main Street, Newark, Ohio 43055.
