A Funeral Mass for Donald Howard Reid, 84, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., Friday, November 6, 2015, with Rev. JCP Sullivan, Parish Priest as celebrant. Interment will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
Donald, a United States Army Korean War Veteran, died at his home on Monday, November 2, 2015. He was born in Alexandria, Ohio on March 8, 1931 to the late Howard and Cora (Brown) Reid.
Donald was a 1949 graduate of Alexandria High School and longtime parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. He worked at Omar Bakery, Tectum, and was retired from Owens Corning where he was a group leader. Donald was a member of the Alexandria Buckeyes and enjoyed golf and bowling. He was a big fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Indians and Browns, but above all, Donald enjoyed attending the sporting events of his own family and cheering for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Connie (Desti) Reid; his children, Patti (Jerry) Lester, Doug Reid, Karen (Marc) Weekly, and Cindy (Larry) Wagner; step-children, Rick (Kathi) Martin, David (Diann) Martin, and Lisa (Gabriel) Fornaresio; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; his brother, Dick Reid; his sister, Martha (Don) Bowman; his brother-in-law, Lige Davison; sisters-in-law, Barb Davies, Linda (Clint) Wright, and Judy (Art) Dossman; and many special nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Shirley (Metcalf) Reid.
Friends and family may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M., Thursday, November 5, 2015 at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where a Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 P.M.
