Obituary

Funeral services celebrating the life of Diane V. Elwell, 84, of Newark, will be held at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 11 A.M., Saturday, March 15, 2025, with Deacon Patrick Wilson as celebrant.  Inurnment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 9-11A.M., Saturday, prior to the service.

Diane, a parishioner of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, died at the Selma Markowitz Care Center on Monday, March 10, 2025. She was born in Newark, Ohio on July 30, 1940, to the late Arthur F. and Anita V. (Frush) Vogelmeier.

A 1958 graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School, Diane received her Associates Degree in Accounting from COTC. She was retired from Owens Corning and had also worked at Holophane and State Farm.

Diane enjoyed reading, gardening, working on puzzles and collecting Longaberger. She was devoted to her family and cherished supporting them in their many events over the years.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Dave (Lisa) Elwell, Dodi (Doug) Manley, Dee Elwell, Dori (Scott) Bates, and Dan (Julie) Elwell; 10 grandchildren, Nick Elwell, Toni (Robert) Newsome, Mark (Stephanie) Elwell, D.J. (Jessie) Manley, Dylan (Amber) Manley, Jasma Bias, Ryan (Katie) McGann, Kim White, Caden Elwell and Tanner Elwell;  13 great-grandchildren, Cameron, Jackson, Addison, Robert, Adelina, Griffin, Hudson, Marshall, Delila, Josie, Cash, Remi, and Declan; siblings, Danny Vogelmeier, Jeff (Susan) Vogelmeier, Marilyn Kister, and Mary (Jack) Elam; brother-in-law, Roy Frazier; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Diane was preceded in death by her husband, C. Richard Elwell; siblings, Thomas "Huck" (Cathy) Vogelmeier, Mickey Frazier, and Pat (Wendell) Farley; her sister-in-law, Andrea Vogelmeier; and longtime companion, Jim Jones.
