A gathering for family and friends of Desiree Nicole Meek, 22, of Newark, will be held at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 2-4 P.M., Sunday, July 24, 2016, with Pastor Bruce Hissong celebrating a service a 2 P.M. Inurnment and a balloon release will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery where Desiree will be buried next to her Grandpa Johnson whom she adored.

Desiree died on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Grant Medical Center. She was born in Newark, Ohio on May 11, 1994 to David Eric Meek and Crystal (Johnson) Glenn, both of Newark.

Desiree, a 2012 Lakewood High School graduate, enjoyed all outdoor adventures especially camping, fishing, hiking, cars and time spent at Black Hand Gorge with her daughter. She was employed by Gummer Wholesale, Inc.

In addition to her parents, Desiree is survived by her daughter, Aislynn Blaise Meek; sister Destiny Meek (Codi Withrow); brothers Bradyn Gaskins and Carter Gaskins; paternal grandparents, Linda Meek and Dave (Maria) Meek; step-father, Terry Sanders; step-grandmother, Sondra Sanders; special aunts Amy Johnson, Shellie Sanborn, Ann Dermer and Kim Young; aunts and uncles, Karen Johnson, Kim Denton, Karla Johnson, Doug Johnson, Doug Baumgartner, Shawn Meek, and Todd Parsley; many cousins, Lindsey Dustin, Chase, D.J., Aaron (Rose), Elizabeth, Brittany, Breanna; Tosha (Mikeall), Megan, Larry, Lee, Greg, Cypress, Chance, Karma, Nachelle, Leeyah, Jazzlynn, Chaz, Daylin, Dayanna, Aliceya, Quentin, and Alex; Godmother Tracey (Mike) Lehman, special friend, Gary Brown; and her Godkids, Autumn, Travis, and Kendal.

Desiree was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Richard and Dee Johnson.

The Desiree and Aislynn Memorial Fund has been established and donations can be made to any Park National Bank.
