Funeral Services celebrating the life of Delmar G. Booher, 88, of Frazeysburg, will be held at the Hanover Presbyterian Church, 11:00 A.M., Friday, December 21, 2018 with Pastor Sarah Juist as officiant, and with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

Delmar, an active member of the Hanover Presbyterian Church, died at the Selma Markowitz Care Center on Monday, December 17, 2018.  He was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania on October 22, 1930 to the late Delmar and Velma (Crabill) Booher.

A United States Army Veteran, Delmar served from 1950-1952, beginning in the Pennsylvania National Guard and Federalized into the regular service in the occupational forces in Germany.

He attended Shenango School and was a 1948 graduate of Mt. Jackson High School. He married Yvonne Mollenkopf in 1950 and later went to Western Reserve University where he received his Bachelors in Education, followed by his Masters.

Delmar taught in the Cleveland Public Schools where he also served as a Principal for many years. Following his retirement, he worked as the supervisor of detention officers at the Cleveland Detention Center.   Upon moving to the Newark area, Delmar returned to education serving as the Principal of Par Excellence Academy. Upon his second retirement, Delmar became active in the Hanover American Legion, Licking Valley Lions and the New Home Lodge of the Masons.

Delmar and his wife have resided in the Licking Valley Community for 38 years where he was first attracted by the deer hunting. He and his wife have enjoyed living in the log home they built, creating many lasting memories with their family and neighbors.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Yvonne (Mollenkopf) Booher; daughters, Marilyn Booher (Christine Austin) and Karen Duffy (Dean); his son, Scott Booher; grandchildren, Steven Booher, Ahren Booher, Leslie Booher, Nathan Booher, Michael Duffy (Samantha), and Deanna Duffy (Michael); brothers, Melvin Booher (June), and David Booher (Mandy), brother-in-law, George Pilner, sisters-in-law, Betty Booher, Cressence Booher, Virginia Booher, and Linda Booher; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Delmar was preceded in death by his sister, Bonnie Pilner; and brothers, Robert, William, Kenneth, Chuck Booher.

Friends and family may call at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 4-7 P.M., Thursday, December 20, 2018; and for one hour at the church prior to the service on Friday.
