Cook
Jul 10, 1959 — Sep 7, 2020
On September 7, 2020, Deborah Lynne Payne-Cook, aged 61, of Hebron, OH went home to be with the Lord.
Deb was born on July 10, 1959 in Erie, PA to Ivan "Butch" and Betty (Winkelman) Payne. She graduated from Northwestern High School in 1977 and Palm Beach Atlantic College in 1982, receiving a Communications degree. She received her BSN in 1989 from St. Petersburg Junior College and was a Registered Nurse for nearly 30 years. She worked in various hospitals in Florida and Ohio (where she was known as "Debo") and was also a home health nurse in Georgia, North Carolina and Texas.
Deb had a beautiful voice and sang with the Teen Choir at the Federated Church. She cared deeply for her patients and coworkers, took them gifts and treats and organized caroling during the Christmas holiday. She was extremely intelligent, had a wonderful sense of humor, and was exceedingly generous. She was completely devoted to her pets and her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, and enjoyed living on the water in Harbor Hills. Deb was a follower of Christ and participated for many years in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal. She had a heart for the less fortunate, helped with summer lunch programs and loved to cook for her friends and family. She frequently donated items to benefit homeless individuals. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Buckeye Lake, Ohio.
Deb was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather J. Joseph Horvath; and brother Donald. She is survived by her sister, Carol (John) Beals; sister-in-law Janice Payne; step-siblings Bob Horvath and Cindy Sullivan; many cousins; nieces Lori (Jim) Barrett, Kristen Beals, and Stefanie Payne; nephew Kevin (Krista) Payne; step-nieces and a step-nephew; 4 great-nieces; a great-nephew; a great-grandniece; and dear friends Della and Russ Manley among others. Her 3 cats, Niki, Megan, and Skeeter, were her "furbabies" and also mourn her passing. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 7 at the Federated Church in East Springfield, PA. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Licking County Humane Society or charity of your choice.
