Funeral services celebrating the life of David Carl Rian, 75, of Heath, will be held at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 10:30 A.M., Friday, May 25, 2018, with Fr. David Sizemore as celebrant. Interment will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery.

Carl died at the Selma Markowitz Care Center of Hospice of Central Ohio on Friday, May 18, 2018.  He was born in Newark, Ohio on August 29, 1942 to the late Warren and Virginia (Goff) Rian.

For most of his life, Carl worked as an electrician and was a member of the IBEW Local. As an outdoorsman, he enjoyed hiking, hunting, and fishing. He was an avid Harley-Davidson rider and loved his bikes and biker friends. Carl was known throughout central Ohio as a great blues guitar player. He inspired, taught and played with many people throughout his life. He helped so many in various ways over the years and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his children, Timothy D. Rian, Julie (Timothy) Lindner, Jacqueline (Robert) McIlyar, Michael S. (Elizabeth) Rian, Stephen H. (Jeanne) Rian, and their mother, Sue Dondelewski; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; his brother, Richard "Dick" (Barb) Rian; his sister, Joyce Sullivan; dear friend, Mary Wesley; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his daughter, Katherine Louise Rian.

Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 5-7 P.M, Thursday, May 24, 2018.
