Calling hours celebrating the life of David F. Ohler, 74, of Heath, will be held at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 4-6 P.M., Friday, August 11, 2023. The evening will conclude with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance at 6 P.M.

David died at Licking Memorial Hospital on Sunday, August 6, 2023. He was born in Newark, Ohio on March 7, 1949, to the late Donald F. and Betty (Noblick) Ohler.

He attended Newark Catholic High School and was a 1969 graduate of Newark High School. A United States Army Veteran, David served during the Vietnam War and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was previously employed as a social worker with the Ohio Department of Youth Services.

He is survived by his children, David F. Ohler Jr., Denise (Steve) Smith, and Sarah Dixon; 7 grandchildren; Braynt, Corbyn, Brynlee, James, Zack, Seth, and Dylan; great-granddaughter, Stevie; sisters, Barb (Tom) Wheeler and Susan Cochran (Jeff Tolley); brother-in-law, Arnel (Tita) Capulong; nieces and nephews; and many Friends of Bill.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Kay (Brown) Ohler; brother, Joseph Ohler; and sister, Mary Ann Capulong.
