Funeral Services for David Joseph Bringardner, 79, of Jacksontown, will be held at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 7 P.M., Friday, February 19, 2016 with Pastor Gary Kirkpatrick as celebrant and with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Calling hours will be held from 5-7 P.M., Friday prior to the funeral service.

David died at Select Specialty Hospital on Monday, February 15, 2016. He was born in Dover, Ohio on January 26, 1937 to the late Joseph and Margaret (Butcher) Bringardner.


He served for 20 years with United States Navy, part of which was during the Vietnam War. Following active duty, David then worked as a painter for the government. He was a member of the Buckeye Lake Eagles and an officer with the Thornport AMVETS Post 51. David enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and golf.

He is survived by his wife, Linda (Smeltzer) Bringardner; his daughters, Janet, Selma, and Angelina; his bonus children, Brian (Stephanie) Vierstra, Kevin (Kim) Vierstra, Michelle (Robin) Davis, and Angela (Eric) Cook; brother-in-law, Richard Speihler; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many longtime friends, especially Bob Mabry.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth Speihler and Mary Sanders.
