Funeral services celebrating the life of Darla Kay Nelson, 74, of Newark, will be held at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 7, 2018 with Fr. Jonathan Wilson as celebrant. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Darla, a parishioner of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, died in the Selma Markowitz Care Center of Hospice of Central Ohio on Saturday, February 3, 2018.  She was born in Columbus, Ohio on November 21, 1943 to the late Bernard F. and Elizabeth F. (Love) Jones.

She received her RN degree from COTC and worked as a floor nurse with Grant and Mt. Carmel East Hospitals, and was also an emergency room observation unit nurse. She was a member of the ARC Senior Group and enjoyed traveling. Darla also cherished the many memories made while camping with her grandchildren.

Darla is survived by her children, Jim (Hollie) Nelson, Deanna Culver, and Teresa (Shawn) Allen; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Darla was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Nelson in 1991; and her brother, Donald Jones.

Friends and family may call at the funeral home 4-7 P.M., Tuesday, February 6, 2018.
