Dan died at Otterbein of Granville on Sunday, August 16, 2026. He was born in Mt. Vernon, Ohio on March 4, 1944, to the late Ralph and Dorothy (Moran) Omlor.
Dan graduated from Mt Vernon High School in 1962 where he was a decorated athlete, earning varsity letters in football, basketball, and baseball. He continued his education at Austin Peay State University, graduating with a degree in accounting. He had a lengthy career with State Farm, serving as Accounting Manager and Administrative Services Manager.
Dan was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Church for many years, and most recently St. Edward the Confessor Church. He was a member of Newark Elks Lodge 391, loved to golf and fish, supported the Newark Catholic Athletic Association, and was an active resident at Otterbein of Granville. Dan spent many years supporting and coaching his daughters during their athletic careers. He especially wanted to make sure that they didn’t “throw like a girl".
Dan will be dearly missed by his daughters, Jodi Omlor and Beth (Christopher) Gonzales; 2 grandchildren, Evan and Katelyn Gonzales; brothers, Dick Omlor and Mike (Lanna) Omlor; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Joan (Jacobs) Omlor; and his sisters, Martha Jean (Robert) Gamble and Barbara Boyle.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dan's name can be made to Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Road, Newark, OH 43055; or the Alzheimer's Association Central Ohio Chapter, 5200 Upper Metro Place, Suite 170, Dublin, OH 43017.
A luncheon will be provided at The Newark Elks immediately following the Mass.
