Daniel Joseph O'Donnell's Obituary
A Funeral Mass for Daniel "Danny" Joseph O'Donnell Sr., 66, of Newark, will be held at The Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 10:00 A.M., Monday, October 21, 2013 with Fr. Jonathan Wilson as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
Danny, a United States Army Veteran, died at Licking Memorial Hospital on October 16, 2013. He was born in Zanesville, Ohio on March 2, 1947 to the late Aloysius Sr. and Anna (Musselman) O'Donnell.
Danny, a 1965 graduate of West Muskingum High School, worked as an electrician with Holland Electric for many years and was a member of IBEW Local 1105 and the Newark Moose. He was a parishioner of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament and was a 3rd Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus Council 721. Danny enjoyed watching football and was very good at working with computers.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sheela (Dodson) O'Donnell, of the home; his children and their spouses, Daniel O'Donnell Jr. (Laurie Hass) of Las Vegas, Nevada, Tyra O'Donnell; Larry and Jeanne Bailey Jr., and Russell Bailey, all of Newark; and Frances and Michael Morgan of Thornville; 7 grandchildren, Kyle, LeAnn, and Tomya; Ashley (Justin), Gracie (Nate), Josh, and Nikki; 2 great-grandchildren, Carla Jean and Raelynn; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Aloysius Jr. and Phyllis O'Donnell of Mims, Florida, Thomas Sr. and Pearl O'Donnell of Newark, and Terry and Joyce O'Donnell of Gratiot; his sister, Sr. Michael Ann O'Donnell of Manitowoc, Wisconsin; 4 brothers-in-law and 3 sisters-in-law and their spouses; longtime family friends, Ray and Gert Grove of Newark; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by his brother, Michael; and his sisters, Mary Catherine, Maureen, Rita, and Patsy.
Friends and family may call from 2-5 P.M., Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where a Vigil Service will be held at 4:30 P.M.
The family requests that memorial be made to the Church of the Blessed Sacrament Building Fund, 378 East Main Street, Newark, Ohio 43055.
