D. Mark Stewart, DDS, 65, of Granville, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by the love of family on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.

Born December 11, 1957, in Topeka, Kansas to the late Daryl and Wilma (Robson) Stewart, he was a graduate of Washington Court House High School and Miami University.  Mark continued his postgraduate studies at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.  Upon graduation in 1984 he established his dental practice in Newark, Ohio, welcoming and providing dental care for the community for the next 37 years.  Many treasured friendships were made throughout those years, and he was honored to serve many generations.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lori Ann (Phillips) Stewart, three sons, Mark Andrew, Samuel Mark, Luke Phillips, and daughter, Lillian Grace. Additional survivors include his brother Doug (Nancy) Stewart, sister Susan (David) Bender, and sisters-in-law Pam Kent (Erwin), Wendy (David) Compton, brothers-in-law Gary (Terri) Phillips, Kenny Phillips, mother-in-law, Janet C. Phillips, and 12 nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank Mark's loyal and dedicated office staff of 25+ years. He often referred to them as his second family.

Mark was a passionate and enthusiastic participant of many endeavors. He was an adventurer, enjoying yearly fishing and hunting trips with friends, and traveling with family. Although his life was cut short, he was fortunate to travel through Scotland with his three sons. Mark was also an avid fan of the Columbus Blue Jackets, regularly attending the games with his family.

He will be remembered best for his unwavering support and love of family.  Mentor, friend, father, Mark shared a zest for life, an easy smile, and appreciation for all that matters with anyone fortunate enough to know him.

A private mass will be held at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, Granville, Ohio.  Friends may call from 5-8 pm, Thursday, June 15, 2023, at the Moundbuilders Country Club, 122 North 33rd Street, Newark, Ohio for a celebration of Mark's beautiful and impactful life.  All are encouraged to attend this informal gathering in honor of Mark.
