Funeral events for Christine Ann Geiss, 53, of Granville, will be held at Spring Hills Baptist Church, starting with calling hours at 5:00-9:00 P.M., Friday, June 3, 2016, and then Church Service at 1:30 P.M., Saturday, June 4, 2016 with Pastor Tom Pound as celebrant. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
Christine died at her home with her family by her side on Saturday, May 28, 2016. She was born in Lima, Ohio on June 16, 1962 to Ruby (DesGranges) Diehl of Lima, and the late William Diehl. She battled brain cancer for a remarkable 8 years.
Christine received her BA in Sociology and Psychology from Wittenberg University, where she also met her future husband, David. She then earned her Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Ohio University.
Christine was an early member of Spring Hills Baptist Church and was instrumental in the supportive staff of Granville Christian Academy. She was a devoted lover of Christ and found much comfort and growth in her faith. She appreciated the beauty of nature and was a lover of birds. Christine's greatest joy was her family, and she displayed her wholehearted devotion to them in all ways. She enjoyed spending time with her best friend Vicky Pound and their weekly trips for Whit's Frozen Custard.
In addition to her mother, Christine is survived by her husband of 31 years, Dr. David Geiss; her children, Jordan, Kyle, and Alaina "Tessy"; her siblings, Susan (Florian) Smith, Linda Schutte, Bill (Cindy) Diehl, and Rob (Leah) Diehl; her father-in-law, Dr. Paul (Claire) Geiss; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her father, Christine was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Dorothy Geiss.
Friends and family may call at the Spring Hills Baptist Church from 5-9:00 P.M., Friday, June 3, 2016 and for one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Christine Geiss Scholarship Fund at Granville Christian Academy, 1820 Newark-Granville Road, Granville, Ohio 43023.
