A Funeral Mass for Charles F. Dolan Jr., 86, of Newark, will be held at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 10:30 A.M., Monday, February 17, 2014 with Fr. Jonathan Wilson as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

Charles, a lifelong parishioner of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, died at Mt. Carmel East Hospital on Wednesday, February 12, 2014. He was born in Newark, Ohio on September 15, 1927 to the late Charles F. Sr. and Florence (Pritchard) Dolan.

Charles graduated from St. Charles Prep High School in 1945. Following, he was called to the Navy during WWII and served aboard PC 1233 and with the Naval Air Reconnaissance Squadron VPP2.

After the war, Charles continued his education at Ohio University where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry. He worked for 40 years at Kaiser and retired as a technical consultant.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Newark Elks Lodge, and a former member of the American Chemical Society, American Society for Quality Control, and American Society for Nondestructive Testing.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Barbara (Hinger) Dolan, of the home; his children, Brigid (Dan) Bohl of Edenton, NC, Michael (Shirley) Dolan of Glenford, Sheila Dolan Elliott of Newark, and Scott Dolan (Jeff Marion) of Columbus; daughter-in-law, Rita Dolan of Newark; 8 grandchildren, Stephanie, Erica, Eryn, Timothy, Kevin, Ryan, Brian, and Lindsey; 7 great-grandchildren, Anna, Delaney Mckenna, Elizabeth Jane, Olivia Grace, Lilly, Eve, and Grace; his sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jane (John) Bakos of Granville; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by two sons, Patrick Kevin, and Terrence Francis; and his daughter Theresa.

Friends and family may call from 2-5 P.M., Sunday, February 16, 2014 at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where a Vigil Service will be held at 4:30 P.M.
