A Funeral Mass for Charles David "Dave" Welch, 72, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, March 14, 2017 with Rev. JCP Sullivan, Parish Priest as celebrant. Interment will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
Dave, a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, died suddenly at Licking Memorial Hospital on Thursday, March 9, 2017. He was born in Newark, Ohio on January 6, 1945 to the late Charles W. and Velma Elizabeth (Kisamore) Welch.
Dave was a 1963 graduate of Newark High School and attended The Ohio State University. He served as a tank mechanic with the United States Army Reserves during the Vietnam era. Currently, Dave was a Realtor with HER Realtors, was previously with Woeste Real Estate, and had been working in real estate since 1969.
For many years, Dave was an Oldsmobile and Chevrolet enthusiast and loved racing and restoring cars. He had a great sense of humor and was always willing to give of his time to help others when asked.
As the heart of the family, Dave cherished his wife and was so very proud of his boys. His strong work ethic and appreciation for family values were qualities many witnessed and he shared with his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 48 years, Marian (Woeste) Welch; his children, Roger (Kelly) Welch, Jason (Robin) Welch, and Chad (Allison) Welch; his grandchildren who were the light of his life, Morgan, Payton, Nathan, Benjamin, Nicholas, Camryn, and Madelyn; his sister-in-law, Terry Welch; aunts, uncles, and cousins. They cannot fathom that Dave is gone, and are so very saddened.
In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his brothers, Daniel at birth, and Donald B. Welch; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Friends and family may call at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 4-7 P.M., Monday, March 13, 2017, where a Vigil Service will be held at 6:30 P.M
