A Mass of Christian Burial for Charleen Jacquet, 88, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 11:30 A.M., Saturday, December 14, 2024, with Father David Sizemore as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Newark. Calling will be held at the Reed-Egan Funeral Home, 9-11 A.M. Saturday, December 14, 2024.
A prayer service of remembrance will be held at 2 P.M., this Sunday, December 8th, 2024, at SharonBrooke Assisted Living.
Charleen died at the Selma Markowitz Care Center of Hospice of Central Ohio on Monday, November 25, 2024. She was born in Mt. Vernon, Ohio on March 30, 1936, to the late Clarville Monroe and Olive Eveline (Richardson) Smith.
A 1954 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School, Charleen was affectionately known as "Smitty" by her classmates, with whom she still met frequently. She was a member of Freedom Years and made many friends along the way.
Charleen was a longtime parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church where she was a dedicated member of their Ministry of Comfort, Women of St. Francis, ARC Club, Blessing Bags and Walking with Purpose. She was a familiar face for many years within the parish, sharing her wit and sense of humor while diligently completing the task at hand.
She worked for many years in the Newark Catholic High School cafeteria, was a longtime NC Bingo and St. Francis Elementary School cafeteria volunteer.
She will be greatly missed by her children, Steve Jacquet, Tricia (Scott) Wiemers, and Darcy (Matt) Selby; grandchildren, Megan, Brad, Taylor, and Parker; sister-in-law, Carolyn Jacquet; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Charleen was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, James Joseph Jacquet, in 2023.
