A gathering for family and friends of Carol Mentz Stires, 58, of Glendale, Arizona, will be held at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 5-8 P.M., Friday, June 10, 2016. A celebration of life for Carol will be held in Arizona at a later date.

Carol, a 1976 graduate of Newark Catholic High School, died in Arizona on Saturday, June 4, 2016. She was born in Newark, Ohio on November 30, 1957 to the late Edward P. and Martha (Graney) Mentz.

She is survived by her husband, Jeff; her children, Bart, Caitlin, and Chelsea; her siblings and their spouses, Richard Mentz, Jean Ritchey, Joan Hutchison, Trish (Ray) Blankenship, Barbara (Joe) Redman, Sharon Schroeder, Kathleen (Ralph) Rucker, Thomas (Kim) Mentz, and Tim (Dawn) Mentz; sisters-in-law, Debbie Mentz and Susan Stires; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her brother, Bob Mentz; sisters, Mary Alice Mentz and Mary Ann Mentz; and niece, Cherie Demetriou.
