A graduate of Alexandria High School, Carol worked for Roper, Newark Air Force Base for many years, retiring from Boeing.

Carol was a generous and graceful woman who always greeted you with a kind smile. She was a member of the Newark Moose Lodge 499 and longtime member of Licking Springs Trout Club and current Licking Springs Country Club, formerly Moundbuilders.

She embraced her role as wife, mother, and Mimi and was an unwavering support to her family in their daily activities and loved to spoil them with great home-cooked meals.

She was preceded in death by her son, Stephen "Steve" Gartside; grandson, Sebastian Gartside; and brother, James "Jim" Root.
