Obituary

A Funeral Mass for Carmen Hull, 84, of Newark, will be held at St. Leonard Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., Saturday, February 3, 2018. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

Carmen, a United States Navy Veteran, died at Licking Memorial Hospital, with her family by her side, on Tuesday, January 30, 2018. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 18, 1933 to the late James and Ann (Gustat)Thompson.

A longtime parishioner of St. Leonard Catholic Church, Carmen was a member of the LMH Twigs, Newark Garden Club, various Card Club, and volunteered as a tutor at Cherry Valley Elementary School. In addition, she was a ceramic artist who loved creating many treasures over the years.

Carmen was very devoted to her family and will be greatly missed by her children, Lisa (Richard) Gebhart, Sally (John) Balser, Jon (Connie) Hull, Ann (Robert) Wehrle, and Mary Hull; daughter-in-law, Cathy (Tim) Austin; grandchildren, Nicholas (Chrissy) Gebhart, Sarah Hull (Dave Allen-Williams), Ashley Balser, Kellyn (Andrew) Broderick, Jason (Meredith) Balser, Elizabeth Balser (Darren), Carley Hull (Codie), Kendyl Hull (Sam) and Kelly Hull; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters Dorothy Mowen and Marcia (Jack) Friesell; brothers, Bill (Flo) Thompson and Jim Thompson; sisters-in-law, Karen Heald and Jo Ann Hull; and trusty dogs, Mya, Webster and Gus.


In addition to her parents, Carmen was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Rodger O. Hull; son, Michael J. Hull; grandson, Andrew M. Hull; and brothers-in-law, Dave Hull, Ed Mowen and Gene Heald.

Friends and family may call from 4-8 P.M. Friday, February 2, 2018 at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where a Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 P.M.
