A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Carl L. DiBlasio, 91, of Newark and formerly of Heath, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M. Friday, December 11, 2020, with Fr. David Sizemore as celebrant.  Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

Carl, a United States Army Korean War Veteran, died at the Chestnut House on Friday, December 4, 2020.  He was born in Newark, Ohio on February 17, 1929, to the late Michele C. and Angela M. (Favo) DiBlasio.

As a young man, Carl spent his time after school working in his father's gardens and shined shoes to make a few pennies.  After serving in the Army, he married the love of his life, and together they raised five children and made many lifelong friends.  He opened a small appliance repair shop out of his home while working full time at Owens Corning Fiberglas Newark Plant, retiring after 39 years.

Carl attended St. Francis Church with his young family, and later became a parishioner of St. Leonard Church when he resided in Heath.  Carl was a member of Druids Circle #14 and life member of the U.A.U.D of Druids serving in many capacities including, past Noble Arch, past Grand Arch of the State of Ohio; past Chief Druid, Trustee, and also served on the housing board as well as many other committees.

In addition, Carl was a life and charter member of Heath Eagles, member of the Sons of Italy Rinascimento Lodge, Owens Corning Retirees and 25 Year Club, GBBA Local 244 where he also served as a steward, and was past-president of the Board of Directors for Licking County Developmental Disabilities.

He enjoyed working flea markets and taking trips to Atlantic City with his late wife, Millie (Delancey) DiBlasio.  Known by many as the "little old winemaker", he will be remembered for his magic tricks, orneriness, wit and smile.  He was an all-around great man.

He will be greatly missed by his children, Linda and Mike Padgett, Carol and Charles Franks, Carla Barrett, Tina and Mike McMannis, and William (Tiki) DiBlasio; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Jane O'Neal; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Millie DiBlasio sisters, Sarah, Frances, and Theresa DiBlasio; brothers and sisters-in-law, Christian, Albert (Louella), Nicholas, and Mike (Louise) DiBlasio; brother-in-law, Paul O'Neal; and niece Marie DiBlasio.

Friends and family may call at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 5-7 P.M., Thursday, December 10, 2020.  Masks are required and social distancing without lingering is requested.
