Braden David Thress

A Mass of Christian Burial for Braden "Brady" David Thress, 59, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., Monday, March 30, 2026, with Fr. Anish Thomas as celebrant and Fr. Simon Herrmann OSB from Saint Meinrad Archabbey in Indiana as concelebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Newark.

Brady died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, March 21, 2026. He was born in Red Bank, New Jersey on October 14, 1966, to the late David F. and Sharon (Merriam) Thress.

Brady was retired from UPS following 34 years of service where he was also a member of the union and former steward. In his retirement, Brady began working in the cafeteria at Newark Catholic High School embracing the community that he came to love. This past summer, Brady joined his son, Cameron, as part of the landscaping crew at Ye Olde Mill, giving them many quality hours together enjoying the outdoors.

His role as a husband and father was Brady's most important and cherished accomplishment. He adored spending time with his sons, working on cars, coaching them in baseball and football, and rooting for his beloved Raiders and Wolverines. He was most content surrounded by those he loved when visiting Harry's Haven in Deep River, Ontario, fishing from the pier and closing the night entertaining family by playing the guitar, sharing his love of music.

Brady will be dearly missed by his wife, Carol (McCarthy) Thress; his sons, Cormac and Cameron; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mike (June) McCarthy; brother-in-law, Keary (Lori) McCarthy; siblings, Allison Thress, Amy Neal, Adam (Sarah) Thress, and Robin Hamlet; nephews, Declan and Sean McCarthy, Matthew (Amanda) Schmitz and Peter (Tiffany) Schmitz, and several other nieces and nephews; and step-mother, Patricia Thress.

Brady also leaves behind many friends that were a huge part of his life. He cherished each of them and loved giving them nicknames that became a personal term of endearment for each. He will be greatly missed.

Friends and family may call at the Reed-Egan Funeral Home, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 2-5 P.M., Sunday, March 29, 2026, with a Vigil Service held at 4:30 P.M.
