A Mass of Christian Burial for Robert Leo Davis, 80, of Newark, will be held at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 10:30 A.M., Friday, February 24, 2023, with Fr. Anthony Lonzo as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Bob, a lifelong parishioner of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, died at the Selma Markowitz Care Center of Hospice of Central Ohio, on Thursday, February 16, 2023. He was born in Newark, Ohio on July 13, 1942, to the late Frederick A. and Edna M. (Wahl) Davis.

Bob was a 1960 graduate of Newark Catholic High School. He began his career working at Woolworth's, and following 25 years of service, retired from the Sears store, Heath, where he managed the furniture and appliance departments.

He was a quiet man of faith with few words and a huge heart.  Bob had three passions in his life:  Faith, Family, and Farming.

As a lifelong parishioner, Bob was baptized, raised, and grew up in the Church of the Blessed Sacrament.  Bob loved God and was looking forward to going to his eternal home to meet Jesus face to face, and to join his departed family members.

Bob was also passionate about his family:  his parents, his five siblings, and his nieces and nephews.  He had many fond memories of growing up on a farm. He was very close with his father, Fred, and took care of him until he passed at the age of 97.

Bob fiercely loved and will be greatly missed by his daughter, Lisa Gadra; his two granddaughters, who were his world, Aubrie Grace Gadra and Lily Faith Gadra, of MD; his sister, Regina (Kenneth) Guy; and sister-in-law, Anneliese Davis. Bob also deeply valued his lifelong friendship with Pat Guanciale.

He was a creature of habit with his daily routine of going to Bummies or Roosters, and the Red Oak Pub. The bartenders, owners, staff, and those who frequented these places extended kindness, caring, and genuine concern for Bob.  They became his family away from home.

Bob was a farm boy at heart.  During his career with Sears, he also farmed.  He would often come home after a day of work and then farm until 1 or 2 in the morning and then back to Sears for another day.  Bob has a large collection of all things "John Deere" as well as vintage model cars. He enjoyed feeding "critters" in his backyard.  He was especially fond of the deer that would pass through.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his siblings, Kenneth E. Davis, William J. (Louise) Davis, Richard E. Davis, Patricia Rowley, and Mary Jane (Greg) Schell.
