Obituary

A Funeral Mass for Dr. Colonel Billy C. Booth, EdD, USAF (Ret.), 88, of Delaware, formerly of Heath and Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., Friday, September 8, 2017, with Fr. David Sizemore as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Newark, with military honors provided by the United States Air Force Honor Guard and the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

Billy died at the Sarah Moore Home in Delaware on Tuesday, August 29, 2017. He was born in Senecaville, Ohio to the late Charles Hamilton and Elizabeth Mae (Stevenson) Booth.

Billy was a proud graduate of The Ohio State University and a member of their Alumni Association. He received his Doctorate Degree from St. Louis University and was also an alumnus of Air War College.

Billy was a retired United States Air Force Colonel having served for 33+ years. Following his military career, Billy worked for many years as an educator with Newark and Heath City Schools and was Past Principal of Cherry Valley and Garfield Elementary. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 85.

He is survived by his son, Jeffrey Alan (Sharon) Booth of Westerville; his daughters, Elizabeth Anne (Larry) Marks of Poquoson, Virginia, and Alicia Louise (Brian) Wilson of Delaware; his daughter-in-law, Bonita Booth of Heath; his six grandchildren; Brad Booth, Ryan (Kelsey) Booth, Jessica Booth, Major Alan Marks, Lee Marks, and Amber Wilson.

In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Marcia (Gundlach) Booth; his son, Denton Lee Booth; 1 brother and 2 sisters.

Friends and family may call from 2-4 P.M., Wednesday, September 6, 2017, and 4-7 P.M., Thursday, September 7, 2017 at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where a Vigil Service will be held at 6:30 P.M., Thursday.

The family requests memorials in Billy's name to the Garfield Elementary Lunch Program, 107 Lancaster Drive, Heath, OH 43056; or Cherry Valley Elementary Lunch Program, 621 Mt. Vernon Road, Newark, OH 43055. The family would also like to thank the staff of the Sarah Moore Home for their dedicated care.
