Betty Jean Leogrande, 80, of Newark died at Licking Memorial Hospital on Monday, January 20, 2014. She was born in St. Louisville, Ohio on July 22, 1933 to the late Mary Rice.

Betty worked in the food service department of Newark City Schools for over 30 years, and also with The Newark Advocate where she compiled the weekend press advertisements.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Victor Leogrande, of the home; her children and their spouses, Victor V. (Lisa Vanorder) of Newark, Anna Marie (Brian) Grover of Melbourne, FL, Ralph M. Leogrande of Washington, PA,, Theresa (Todd) Magers of St. Louisville, and Joseph E. Leogrande of Newark; 5 grandchildren, Andrea, Toni, Adam, Angela, and Mason; 4 great-grandchildren, Makiah, Adisson, Makenzie, and Vinny; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, Kitty.

In addition to her mother, Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Beem.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no public visitation or services held. Memorials in Betty's name may be made to a cause very dear to her, the Licking County Animal Shelter; or the Licking County Humane Society,
