Funeral services celebrating the life of Betty J. Ford, 90, formerly of Heath, will be held at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 1 P.M., Monday, December 21, 2020 with Reverend David Linn as celebrant.  Calling hours will be held for 2 hours prior to the service.  Interment will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens. Due to the pandemic, masks are required and social distancing without lingering is requested.

Betty died at Altercare Thornville on Wednesday, December 9, 2020.  She was born in Marion, Ohio on January 23, 1930, to the late John William and Mineva (Rinbolt) Seel.

Betty was the center of her family, making everyone feel loved and special, and she led by example in all aspects of her life.  One of her many talents she will forever be remembered was her cooking & baking.  Betty loved cards and especially enjoyed many years of euchre with her card club friends.  She loved to crochet and made beautiful doilies and warm scarves for family and friends.  Betty created a strong family spanning many generations that will continue her legacy of cooking, baking, and enjoying cards.

Betty and family were one of the founding members of the Heath Church of Christ.  After the death of her first husband, Betty went back to school to become a cosmetologist while raising four children.  She owned and operated Betty Coon's Beauty Shop for many years.  She was a former employee of Westinghouse in Columbus before moving to Newark to be a wife and mother.  Following her retirement, she enjoyed baking and cooking for The Hometown Deli in Hebron where she was lovingly called "Mother Boss".  She was known far and wide for her pies and desserts.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Jacki (Mark Huggins) Mason, Vickie Marshall, Debbie Hostasa, and daughter-in-law, Kim Coon; 9 grandchildren, Brandt (Katrina), Brittney, Shawn (Katie), Dustin, Shannon (Tyler), Misti (Tim), Melissa, Michelle, and Chase (Sydney); 9 great-grandchildren (with another on the way); and her much loved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles D. Coon; second husband, William L. Ford; son, Jeff Coon; son-in-law, Bob Marshall; and siblings, Donna Bollinger, Rosemary Rinehart, Helen Ford, and Joellen Kiener.

The family of Betty would like to thank the many special people at Altercare Thornville, who cared for mom this past year as if she were their own family.  Also, thank you to Hospice of Central Ohio for guiding us and caring for mom during this final stage of life.
