Funeral services for Bettie Mae Kominar, 86, of Newark, will be held at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, March 24, 2015 with Deacon Larry Wilson as celebrant. Interment will follow in Wilson Cemetery.
Bettie died at her home on Friday, March 20, 2015. She was born in Newark, Ohio on August 22, 1928 to the late James and Gustie Bailey.
Bettie was a longtime parishioner of St. Leonard Catholic church where she was a sacristan and volunteered for bingo, worked in the garden, and helped prepare the mercy meals for the bereaved. Bettie had also volunteered in the cafeterias of Blessed Sacrament Elementary and Newark Catholic High School.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Janet Kominar of Newark, and Dave and Liz Kominar of Cape Coral, Florida; her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Charles Smith of Newark; 3 grandchildren, Chris (Stacey), John, and Crystal; and 3 great-grandchildren, Jakub, Nathan, and Kyle.
In addition to her parents, Bettie was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Kominar.
Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 4-6 P.M., Monday, March 23, 2015, and for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
