Bette passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, September 26, 2014 surrounded by her family. She was born at her home in Potomac, Illinois on May 30, 1935 to the late Mason and Dorene (Amick) Duncan.

After her children were in school, Bette began working as a secretary for the North Fork Local School District in both the middle and high schools. She then worked at the Newark Air Force Base for 24 years, rising to the level of Human Resources Management Analyst.
