Apr 25, 1939 — Jul 3, 2024
Newark
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Barbara Ann Sullivan, 85, of Newark, will be held at The Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, July 9, 2024, with Fr. Mike Gentry as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Barb passed away at SharonBrooke Assisted Living on Wednesday, July 3, 2024. She was born in Newark, Ohio on April 25, 1939, to the late Percival and Marie (Johnson) Jordan.
A 1957 graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School, Barb worked at W.T. Grant's, Maybold's Shoe Store, and was a longtime clerk at Wickham's Grocery, retiring at the age of 70.
Barb was a lifelong parishioner of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament and was very devoted to her Catholic faith. Her generous nature and willingness to lend a helping hand were evident in her daily actions. Barb's adventurous spirit and great sense of humor often were accompanied by her boisterous laugh, known to many. She was an avid bowler and former member of the His & Hers Sunday Night Bowling League. Above all, she cherished the time spent with family and friends.
She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Kathleen (Brent) Crowley; son, Scott (Tamme) Sullivan; granddaughters, Alex (Eric) Barbour and Amanda Crowley; great-grandchildren, Audrey, Liam, and Ronan; sister, Phyllis (Tim) Williams; brother, David (Sharon) Jordan; sisters-in-law, Patricia Frosdick and Shirley Sullivan; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin, on July 6, 1999.
Calling hours will be held at the Reed Egan Funeral Home, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark Ohio, 5-7 P.M., Monday, July 8, 2024, with a Vigil Service held at 6:30 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials in Barb's name be made to Hospice of Central Ohio or Blessed Sacrament School.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff of SharonBrooke, and Hospice nurses, Gail, Victoria, and VanDana, for the care and support they provided these last years.
