Funeral services celebrating the life of Barbara Jean (Sommerville) McGlasson, 80, of Newark, will be held at 1 PM, Thursday, April 6, 2017, at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, with Pastor Cory Campbell as celebrant. Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 11-1 P.M., prior to the service on Thursday. Interment will follow in Hanover Cemetery.
Barbara passed away at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Florida on Friday, March 31, 2017. She was born in Newark, Ohio on April 11, 1936 to the late Paul Wendal and Lillian Mae (Findley) Sommerville.
Barbara was a graduate of Newark High School and received her Associates Degree from Ohio State University. She was retired from the Licking County Auditor's Office where she worked for many years.
For the last several winters, Barbara and her husband John traveled to their home in Palmetto, Florida. She enjoyed computer games, crafting, reading, playing cards and bingo with her husband and daughters and cherished the time spent with her family, playing board games and enjoying each other's company.
She is survived by her husband, of 36 years, John McGlasson; brother, Ronald Sommerville; children, Lynn (Steve) Wilson, Henry A. Gartner, Kelly (Jack) Covert, Jeanne (Steve) Rian, and Jennifer (Donald) Felumlee; grandchildren, Tracey, Joseph, Mark, Marissa, Adam, Greg, Adam, Jeremy, Ashley, Riley Anne, Angel, and Levi; great-grandchildren, Tegwin, Caera, Grace, Taylor, Elizabeth, Jaron, Daylyn, Nate, Riley, Kayleigh, Sammy, Drake, Savannah, Ava, Cayson, and Odin. She had many nieces and nephews.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents and grandson Mark; and her pup Punky.
