Barbara J.
Parkhill
Oct 12, 1947 — Feb 8, 2021
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Barbara J. Parkhill, 73, of Heath, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., Saturday, February 13, 2021, with Fr. David Sizemore as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Barb, a lifelong parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and 1965 graduate of Newark Catholic High School, died at Licking Memorial Hospital on Monday, February 8, 2021. She was born in Newark, Ohio on October 12, 1947, to the late Joseph D. and Louise (Francis) Wieber. She worked at State Farm and Georgia-Pacific for several years before finding her work home at Edward Jones Investments. Upon her retirement, she volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul, the St. Francis cafeteria, and anywhere else she saw a need.
Barb focused her life on her family. She loved her children and grandchildren unconditionally; she always listened, rarely judged, and usually offered a smile. Her first grandchild christened her the slightly silly, "Giga" and Barb's response was, "I don't care what they call me, as long as they call." She was uniformly good to people and you could count on that. Because Barb was the introverted middle child in a loud, outgoing family, people often overlooked her as the quiet one. As her family would tell you, she was really the strong one. Fortunately for all of us, she willingly extended her definition of family to include anyone she felt needed her particular kind of love. If you knew Barb, you are feeling the loss of her support. If you don't quite remember her, you missed out on one of the best. Barb's longtime maternal send-off to her whole family was, "Be good. No stupidness."
She will be greatly missed by her husband of 48 years, Ray Parkhill; her daughters, Shellie (Bryan) Ball, Maggie (Bill) Doehring, and Abbie (Aaron) Schoen; grandchildren, Veronica, Luke, Alli, Charlie, Jack, Caroline, and Ben; sister, Nancy Shonebarger; sisters-in-law, Patricia Wieber and Lovona Parkhill; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry J. Wieber.
