Obituary

A Mass of Christian Burial for Barbara Ann Parker, 90, of Granville, will be held at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 10:00 A.M., Monday, November 4, 2024, with Msgr. Paul Enke as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Newark.

Barbara, a parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, died at Middleton Senior Living Center on Friday, October 25, 2024. She was born in Dayton, Ohio on May 12, 1934, to the late James Henry and Mary Catherine (Sheridan) Bratton.

A 1952 graduate of Kiser High School, Barbara received her Degree in Nursing from St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing, which was affiliated with the University of Dayton. She worked as an RN at St. Elizabeth Hospital, St. Louis Children's Hospital, Licking Memorial Hospital, and at the Granville Medical Center for over 20 years. Following her retirement, Barbara volunteered at the Newark Health Clinic for several years.

Barbara enjoyed playing tennis and bridge in her early years. She was a devoted mother and wife who loved supporting her children throughout their many school and athletic events over the years.

She will be greatly missed by her husband of 67 years, Bill Parker; 7 children, Bill (Sherrie) Parker, Bob (Kelly) Parker, John (Fran) Parker, Susan Parker, David (Natalie) Parker, Jim (Sonya) Parker, and Tom Parker; 13 grandchildren, Kate (Jan), Brooke (Dave), Emma, Lindsay, Alexa (Ryan) Jackson (Paige), Hallie, Luke, Jude, Nicholas, Samuel, Gabriella, and Madalyn; 6 great-grandchildren, Addison, Reece, Beckham, Bailey, Sully, and Rosie Jo; sister, Marilyn Allison; brothers, John (Sue) Bratton, Don Bratton, and David Bratton; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her brother, James Bratton; brother-in-law, George "Bill" Allison; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Bratton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Barbara's name can be made to St. Vincent de Paul, 115 Wilson St., Newark, Ohio, 43055; or the Newark Catholic High School, 1 Green Wave Drive, Newark, Ohio 43055.

Calling hours will be held at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 5-7 P.M., Sunday, November 3, 2024.
