A Mass of Christian Burial for Arthur C. Wilson, 99, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., Friday, August 12, 2022, with Fr. David Sizemore as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

Art, a longtime parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, died peacefully at Sunrise of Dublin on Sunday, August 7, 2022.  He was born in Newark, Ohio on April 20, 1923 to the late Arthur E. and Blanche (McCabe) Wilson.

At the tender age of 3, Art and his 2-year-old sister lost their mother just six days after the birth of their youngest sister.  Art and his sister were taken in and loving cared for by his mother's sister, Catherine and Phillip Schneider. Though tragic, Art was eternally grateful for the love of this family and the many siblings he gained.

A graduate of Blessed Sacrament Elementary and Newark High School, Art was a United States Navy WWII Veteran, having served from 1941-1945.  Following his honorable discharge from service, Art completed classes at the Newark Business School.

Art retired from the Ohio Oil & Gas Association where he worked for 25 years as the office manager and director of insurance.  Prior to this, Art was employed in the offices of Owens Corning and payroll department of Schuler Engineering.

Devoted to his Catholic faith and Church, Art served on the committee for the St. Francis Church Renovation, (Fr. Bill Johnson), and volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, and Usher.  He was a member of the Fruit of the Vine Prayer Group, St. Vincent de Paul Society and was a graduate of the Chrism Program.

For many, Art exemplified how to live with grace and generosity through his daily actions.  He embodied a moral compass that was genuine, kind, and loving.  Art was an amazing and remarkable man with many friends, faithfully acknowledging birthdays and anniversaries with cards, bringing joy with each sentiment.  He often exclaimed, "I am truly blessed!", which became his unofficial motto and expectation of life.

Art's family were his priceless gifts, and they truly loved him for his guidance, wisdom, and example.  He will be greatly missed by his daughters, Susan (Kenneth) Bell and Laura (John F.) Martin; 6 grandchildren, Kevin (Annie) Bell, Jennifer (Rudy) Ritz, Allison (Doug) Love, Chad (Karlye) Martin, Brent (Kerri) Martin, and Sarah Martin; great-grandchildren, Adam Bell, Sadie Bell, George Love, Samuel Love, Pace Ritz, Patrick Ritz, Reagan Ritz, Hadley Martin, Macey Martin, Sophie Martin, Lucy Martin, Molly Martin, and George Martin; sister, Evelyn Tinervia; nieces and nephews; and his longtime caregiver whom he adored, Cristy Martin.

In addition to his parents, Art was preceded in death by his wife, Martha J. Wilson; sister, Ruth (John) Richards, and brother-in-law, Tony Tinervia.

Friends and family may call from 5-7 P.M., Thursday, August 11, 2022 at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where a Rosary Service will be held at 6:30 P.M.
