A Mass of Christian Burial for Ann Catherine Queen, 97, will be held at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, Granville, Ohio, 10:00A.M., Wednesday, April 6, 2022, with Msgr. Paul Enke as celebrant.  Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville.

Ann was born in Zanesville, Ohio on March 22, 1925, to the late Edward F. and Edna B. (Mattingly) Himmelspach.

She was employed in Zanesville, Ohio as a transcriptionist for the former Line Material Corporation, in the redemption center for S&H Green Stamps, as a cashier at the Zane State College Bookstore, and retired from United Technology where she worked in the accounting department for ten years.

In 1963 Ann faced a great tragedy with the early death of her husband, Russell Rex Queen in an automobile accident.  She was left to raise six children ranging in age from one to thirteen years old.  Her life's devotion gave rise to nineteen grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Ann was truly a matriarch and was loved and admired by many. She will be greatly missed by her six children and their spouses, Jim and Lori Queen of Hilton Head, SC, Dan and Jennifer Queen of Pataskala, Ed Queen of Columbus, Daphne and Ron Roach of Galena, Debbie Matesich and Jeri Helfer of Thornville, and Pam Frye of Somerset.

She lived an inspirational daily life through her faith, which sustained her through trying times and great celebration.  Her strength, courage, humor, foresight, unconditional love, and her ability to listen were great personal attributes she exemplified and gifted to those who were honored to know her.

Ann loved to laugh, had quick wit, and a fun sense of humor.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.  Many cherished friendships were made while living in Erinwood Condominiums and Chapel Grove Assisted Living.

In addition to her husband and parents, Ann was preceded in death by her sister, Rita Himmelspach, and daughter-in-law Mary Queen.

Friends and family may call at the Reed-Egan Funeral Home, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 4-7 P.M., Tuesday, April 5, 2022, where a Vigil Service will be held at 4 P.M.
