Obituary

Funeral services for Ann (Driscoll) Patton 91, of Newark, will be held at Christ United Methodist Church, 10:00 A.M., Thursday, January 29, 2015 with Pastor Wilsonnia McLean officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery where Ann will be laid to rest next to her husband.

Ann passed away at the Kindred Care Center on Saturday, January 24, 2015. She was born in Newark, Ohio on July 25, 1923 to the late Neil and Margaret (Davis) Driscoll.

Ann was a 1942 graduate of Newark High School. Following graduation, she entered nurses training at Newark Hospital graduating in 1944 and became an R.N. the same year. While taking a course at Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ann met Dick Patton who was later to become her husband. They were married in Leesville, LA in January, 1945. While Dick served in the military, Ann worked in various hospitals including Louisiana, Texas, and Pine Bluff Arsenal in Arkansas. After the couple came home, Ann worked at Newark Hospital and in the office of Dr. Charles Sensabaugh. While in the nursing field, Ann was an active member of the District of S.E. Public Health Association and served as President of the nursing section. Ann retired from Newark City Health Department as Senior Nurse. She always loved every aspect of nursing in which she was engaged.

Ann was also involved with both Boy and Girl Scouts and was president of Cherry Valley PTA for 2 years. Ann and Dick were active in Newark High School Band Boosters. Together they also taught Sunday School and were members of the Deux Cum Class of Christ United Methodist Church.

Ann is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, F. Neil and Maralee Patton of Jamestown, Kentucky; her daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret Ann and Robert Miller, and Mya Beth and Ron Kluisza, all of Newark; her grandchildren, Cathy (Dallas) Kramer, Richard William (Liz) Patton, Sarah Allen, Erin (Michael) Bezek, and Mary and Kelley Kluisza; her great-grandchildren, Tiffany (Cody) Bond, Ashley and Brandon Kramer, and Cole Patton Allen; her great-great grandsons, Rohan, Brylan and Flynn.

In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Richard "Dick" Patton; grandchildren, Angela and Tim Miller; and her good friends, Leo and Teresa Kluisza.

Friends and family may call from 4-7 P.M., Wednesday, January 28, at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Christ United Methodist Scholarship Fund, 10 North Cedar Street, Newark, Ohio 43055.
